Pienza is located on the Cassia road that leads you to Rome, and is really close to the Lazio Region’s border.
In the heart of Pienza, Renaissance village designed by Bernardo Rossellino on Pope Pius II, Enea Silvio Piccolomini’s commission, the relais overlooks on Val d’Orcia’s hills. Chiostro di Pienza, ancient cloister of XV century, offers a great hospitality full of comforts and charm thanks to the peculiar building and location.
4 stars hotel Relais Chiostro di Pienza is an ancient Franciscan convent, placed in a enviable location, in the centre of the beautiful Pienza, heart of Val d’Orcia. The hotel is very charming and suggestive thanks to the history that “has lived” in its rooms, and it hides a breathtaking surprise.. a wonderful panoramic terrace with view on the romantic senese’s.
It is a perfect location for relaxing stay dipped into nature, art and history, and world renown wine and food culture!
It is a great point to start some excursions in all Val d’Orcia’s area, Crete Senesi and Monte Amiata, both for guests with car and for whom prefer motorbike or bike, and trekking too.
We suggest to visit Pieve di Corsignano, Sant’Anna in Camprena which are very close to Pienza, and the stunning Sant’Antimo Abbey.
Driving around the sinuous panoramic streets (the perfect trip for photography lovers!) you could get in few kilometers to San Quirico d’Orcia, Montalcino for a Brunello wine tasting, to Montepulciano or Bagni san Filippo and San Casciano dei Bagni, both thermal venues. In less than an hour it would be possible to get to Siena, medieval treasure, famous for the fascinating horse race, Il Palio, which take place in the gorgeous Piazza del Campo, twice in summer time.
